BE AN ORGAN/TISSUE DONOR AND HELP SAVE LIVES!
-
In Colorado and Wyoming, close to 1,800 people are waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant. Nationally, more than 99,000 people are waiting.
- No one should rule themselves out as potential organ and tissue donors. Everyone should designate their decision regardless of age or medical concerns.
- Organs that can be donated are: heart, liver, lungs, kidneys, pancreas and small intestine.
- Tissues that can be donated are: bone, tendons, ligaments, corneas, heart valves and skin.
- A single organ and tissue donor can save up to 100 lives.
- More than half of those who are waiting in our state are waiting for a kidney.
- To learn more about organ and tissue donation visit www.donoralliance.org.
- You can register to be an organ and tissue donor by doing one of the following:
- Sign-up at the 3rd Annual Cheyenne Day of Giving on May 8th at the Cheyenne-Kiwanis Community House in Lions Park. Donor Alliance will be there to help people register their decisions to be organ and tissue donors during the event.
- Sign-up online through the Wyoming Donor Registry at WyomingDonorRegistry.org or call (888) 256-4386.
- Say “yes” when obtaining or renewing your driver’s license at the Department of Transportation.
- Seniors and minorities account for more than 60% of those on the National Transplant Waiting List.
- All major religions support organ, eye and tissue donation as an unselfish act of charity.
