Today’s edition of the Joke of the Day made us feel good!

"I have spent most of my life worrying about things that have never happened."

~ Mark Twain (1835 - 1910)

The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) levied taxes on the wealthy to pay for the expansion of Medicaid, which provided health insurance for millions of Americans. The American Health Care Act (Trumpcare) removes those taxes, and cuts Medicaid funding by $880 billion. The AHCA then gives more power to the states to decide how much they want to spend on Medicaid.   Can the individual states, including Wyoming, make up their share of the Medicaid funding cuts, or will they have to remove or limit insurance to people receiving it now?

After initially supporting the House version of the American Health Care Act (Trumpcare), the President later said the bill was mean and he called on Republican Senators to make their version more generous.   Based on what you have heard about the Senate bill, do you think it meets the President’s goal of being more generous than the House bill?

The chairman of the Wyoming House Revenue Committee wants to repeal many sales tax exemptions, saying they did not attract enough new businesses or create the jobs that were expected, and Wyoming needs the revenue. A spokesman for the Wyoming Business Council says the exemptions are important in getting new businesses to come to Wyoming. Legislators rejected an attempt to repeal exemptions during the last legislative session.   Should sales tax exemptions in Wyoming be repealed?

Yes, repeal sales tax exemptions

No, leave the exemptions in place

State lawmakers have considered a variety of ways to make up Wyoming’s funding shortfall, which is due to a downturn in the minerals industry. Wyoming does not have an income tax.  Should Wyoming impose an income tax if it would cover the state’s shortfall and also lower the sales tax?

Yes, create an income tax and lower the sales tax

No, do not create an income tax
